Monitoring and Managing Hardware Components

You can use the system hardware commands to monitor and manage the following hardware components:

For information about managing disks and disk shelves, see “Managing Disks”.

Displaying Information about Field-Replaceable Units

The system hardware fru show command displays the following information about FRUs:

  • Node name

  • Index number (detailed view only)

  • FRU name

  • FRU model number

  • FRU revision number

  • FRU part number

  • FRU serial number

Not all FRUs have values for all of the parameters; if a FRU does not have a value for a given parameter, the entry is left blank.

The following example shows FRU information for a two-node cluster:

node::> system hardware fru show

Displaying Information about Tape Devices

To display information about attached tape drives and libraries, you can use the system hardware tape drive show and system hardware tape library show commands, respectively.

Displaying Information about Tape Drives

The system hardware tape drive show command displays the following information about tape drives:

  • Node to which the tape drive is attached

  • Device ID of the tape drive

  • Description of the tape drive

  • NDMP path of the tape drive

  • World-wide name of the tape drive (detailed view only)

  • Serial number of the tape drive (detailed view only)

The following example displays detailed information about the tape drives attached to a node named node01:

node::> system hardware tape drive show -instance -node node01
